Hello everyone I know this forum is new but I wanted to see if there where any collectors of Michael Garman sculptures here. I grew up in the fifties so the cityscape scenes are close to my heart. I am looking for a particular piece? If anyone wants to unload a 1975 Cityscape called "Darby Place" send me a message. Below is a description taken from ebay along with a picture. The guy wants $20,000 - one to many zero's for me.-Jimmy
Michael Garman Darby 1 or Darby St. Sculpture
Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of Michael Garman history!
This is an original Micheal Garman Hand painted City Scape. It was originally designed by Michael Garman in 1975. Darby 1 was the first full city scape that Garman created. This is a scene that would eventually come together with other pieces to form "Magic Town", Garman's 2000 sq. ft sculptural theater located in Old Colorado City just west of Colorado Springs.
Garman went on to design many pieces for the Darby Street Collection but Darby 1 remains his most beloved. The Darby Street scenes were retired to retail production by the end of the 1980s. Darby 1 was originally the prototype for the rest of the series. As such, their value is determined by both the intricacy of the sculpture and it's rarity in the current market.
This particular sculpture of Darby 1 is an original and is a prototype for the other sculptures to follow in the collection/series.
The value of this piece will only increase with time.
A tape player is included with the sculpture to add street sounds or background music to the artwork.
This sculpture measures 48" W x 58"H x 28.5"D, and is in WONDERFUL condition for the age of the piece.
This is truly a phenomenal piece of artwork!
Sculpture comes with a plexiglass front.

I have been a collector of Michael Garman for 30 years. I have 18 pieces in my office. They are a big hit with my clients. I would love to own one of the large cityscapes as well. I think I could buy a lifesize version for what some of them go for. -Joe

I was given these pieces when I graduated highschool in '98. I have enjoyed them, but I have decided I should part with them. I could use the money and I know other people may enjoy them more.
I have one piece that is entitled "Mischief" It is a lamp...kind of. It is part of the cityscape collection and it is housed in a wooden case with a light in the top. The name plate on the front Reads
"City scape sculpture by Michael Garman" "Mischief"
Dimensions are 9" wide, the sculpture is 12" tall, the case is 17" tall, and it is 7.5" deep. The sculpture is a young man in a baseball hat leaning up against a brick wall. There is a bat behind him...a smiley face graffitti on the wall...a mit and glove, as well as some bottles and a fire hydrant on the ground.
The signature on the floor of the sculpture says Michael Garman 1978.
I have photos and can send them if anyone is interested in the pieces.
Thanks

The next piece, which I have had a hard time finding a title to is larger and has a magic window. It is 24" wide, 18.5" tall and 7.5" deep. It says Leroy and Betha's Bar and Grill on a sign above the window. It also says hotel written vertically down the right side of the piece. It has an electric/meter on the left side of the windowand some wires. Inside the window, the first scene is a young man in a baseball hat standing outside the men's room door...waiting to go in. The next scene is inside the mens room where you see a dirty bathroom...a man peeing...and someone is in the stall..but you only see the front of his cowboy boots. There is also a radiator in the room. It is a great conversation piece, although many of my friends think it is strange. I guess that is why I loved it. I have taken some pictures. I called the magic village and they said they do not have that piece, and it is no longer in production.
The date on this piece is 1976.
I am looking for reasonable offers on both pieces together or separate.

I am thinking of parting with the most important piece of my Michael Garman sculpture collection.
It is the Flying Leather sculpture dated 1973. This is the one in the first run in 1973 that has his first name incorrectly spelled. The mistake was noticed later and re cast in 1974 correctly.
Should I keep---should I sell?

I have what my husband told me was a "prototype". It is Michael Gorman Leroy and Bertha's Bar and Grill but does not have the hotel down the side. It has the electric meter, the man outside holding a newspaper, the man peeking out of the door with a sign inside that says "No Parking Bus Stop". I have no idea what it is worth. jsadams91@aol.com

I have a number of Michael Garman's scuptures. I recently acquired Leroy and Berthas bar and grill. It has some electrical problems and I wonder if anyone could tell me what bulbs are used and what fuse does it take? A wiring diagram would be quite helpful.
Thanks

I have 2 Michael Garman pieces for sale. One is "Pool Hall Blues" the other is a "U Name It Bar". I can forward pictures if interested.
I am looking for fair money for both items and can help arrange shipping. Both belonged to a relative who gave them to me as a gift years ago.

This very cherished Leroy Garman Leroy & Bertha's Bar And Grillhttp://dsc10011.jpg sadly must be sold by a one-time owner. It's 30 x 19-1/2 x 10, working electrical & in very good shape. Any interest by anyone or advice on pricing? Please respond to jody@fastq.com.
flying leather, gold panner, trail boss, rifleman and others
these are RARE unfinished pieces of work, never circulated, never finished in production. flying leather is 1973 mispelled "michel" instead of michael. A truly rare find as told by the magic town staff.
