Can anyone give me there idea about the collectibility of Mill Creek Studios.
Has the secondary market value of these pieces increased?:)
Melvin-
I have been a collector of Mill Creek Sculptures (http://www.allsculptures.com/mill-creek-studios.php)for a few years now. I never intended to buy any pieces as an investment. I purchased them because I like them. Mill Creek is a small company that has only been around for less than twenty years if I am not mistaken. I believe the more people get familiar with them I believe the price will increase on the earlier pieces. I have only sold three pieces out of my collection and yes I sold them for more than what I paid for them. To be exact, double what I paid for them. Thats my two sense!

I purchased my first Mill Creek piece about 6 weeks ago. I really dont care if it goes up in value or not. The piece is a perfect addition to our home and is totally different from what you tipically see here in Boston. I plan on getting a few more pieces. If the value goes up great if not I still got some sculptures that I enjoy.- Go Sox!!!

I am one of those people that the greatest love in life is horses. I collect, really anything that has to do with horses. I was in North Carolina about a year ago on business. I had never heard of Mill Creek Studios (http://www.allsculptures.com/mill-creek-studios.php). The hotel I was staying at had a gift shop. As I was walking past the gift shop of course the horses on display caught my eye. The following day I bought my first one. I was there for three days and over the course of those days I purchased a total of four. I carried them on the plane with me all the way back to Madison, Wisoconsin. Since then I have purchased several more. I started out with the smaller open edition pieces and now have crossed over to the more expensive limited edition. If I were rich, I would purchase everyone made. I already have both eyes on several of the new editions as well some sold out editons. I feel like a kid at times in a candy store.

Hey Fellow Collectors', I am so excited to be a part of something So Awesome! I am addicted to these Truly Beautiful & Unique Works of Art! I have well over 25 & I'm Nowhere near done! Although, sadly some of my Mill Creek sculptures (http://www.allsculptures.com/mill-creek-studios.php)are still in the boxes that they came in, because I am going to buy a Cabinet Exclusively for them! Originally I was just going to collect the Native American pieces, but I just couldn't help but purchase some of the other works of art, so now, I am purchasing all the ones that appeal to me! I am missing some that I didn't get to buy before they were retired and not available on this site, although I was lucky enough to find some at retail stores, however, there are some that I am still looking for. If there is anyone out there who knows where I might find these, they are: "Noel" & "Blues Song" by Greg Peltzer. Please feel free to "Post" or E-mail me personally! Thanks, in advance, and I look forward to chatting with any collector's out there!

Hi Jimmy D,
I am a huge Lover of Mill Creek pieces! I have quite a collection as well! But due to financial reasons it looks like I need to liquidate my incredable collection! Most of them are "Retired" pieces as well! All my pieces are of Wildlife sculptures. If you would like to contact me and see if I have something you might want, feel free to do so. ktumas@charter.net
Thanks...Kathy T.
I have "dog soldier" from over ten years ago...I see now it is for sale but looks somewhat different than mine...what gives?

I don't know about some of you, but the finishing process seems to have changed some what.
Am I the only one that feels this way....?
I have mostly limited editions in my collection, but also some new smaller ones that my kids have given me at the holidays.
The finishing process is different on the newer items.
I love my older, Large, Limited Edition pieces and hope that I never have to part with them.
Now......If I only had a larger house with more room to display........!
Yeah....that's what I need......!

Mill Creek used to be made in California, I would guess from about 1989 to 2000 or so. Then, they moved production overseas (Thailand and China) It is possible that you may be noticing differences from changes of facilities from the older pieces to the newer ones.
(Good luck with expanding your home to accommodate new sculptures! ;)

Some of the limited editions are still made in U.S. however there is an additional reason that some appear differant. I do resin casting and hand paint after. The final finish is very much effected by the sculpturers style of finishing the original product. A lot of the newer MVCSI sculptures have been finished like the old fashioned bronze sculptures rather then in the very fine detail that a lot of the past MCSI sculptures have been done. As a result the depth of detail and color are not as obvious as some of them used to be. Personally I don't like the change in methods. It's faster and cheaper to sculpture and the molds last longer. All in all much more economical for MCSI, but the quality of the product is cut in half, by my opinion. MCSI has done a lot of things to make their profits higher, but unfortunately I believe that the over all product has diminished in quality. Personally, I don't collect any of the newer pieces. They are in many cases redundant, the same basic sculptures over and over, with very little change. And while I'm sure that it's better for MCSI, I believe in some cases that they have lost a lot of the old authentic natural looks that they first became famous for. Hopefully they will return to what made them successful in the first place.
